The 575 has been one of our most popular bikes for years.
Its extremely versatile -- it can be ridden as a lightweight
all-mountain bike with lighter wheels, a triple chainring
crank, and narrower tires; or, it can be more gravity inclined
by switching the spec to a single chainring up front, a chain
guide, longer travel fork, huskier wheels and fat tires.
When we introduced the AS-R 5, we noticed the lightweight
crowd was drawn to the lighter platform, so we completely
redesigned the 575 to be a little burlier and a little more
versatile. Its still lightweight and 100% all-mountain, but it is
stiffer and stronger than previous models.
This project started a few years back when Yeti employees
started pushing for custom features -- ISCG tabs so they
could run chain guides, tapered head tubes, and custom
cable routing. Once the dust settled, we decided to take the
best of all those bikes, add a few new tricks and launch the
new 575.
So whats different? Lets start up front. The front triangle
still sports the sexy custom hydro-formed tubeset that has
given it its distinctive look, but we have added a tapered head
tube to increase front-end stiffness, added ISCG mounts
and completely redesigned the main pivot and main pivot
junction. The main pivot now has double row bearings for
increased stiffness and durability. A new hydro-formed main
pivot junction increases stiffness and fatigue strength, allows
more clearance, and facilitates a direct mount front derailleur
for better performance. We added cable stops for dropper
seat posts as well.
The rear chainstays have been completely redesigned as
well. Gone are the svelte chain stays -- these have been
replaced by oversized alloy chain stays with internal cable
routing. Not only are they extremely durable, but they look
good too. They feature our Yeti chip system, so you can run
12mm x 142mm QR through axle or standard QR. The
carbon seat stays remain intact.
The geometry has also been revised for aggressive trail
riding. We lowered the bottom bracket a bit and slackened
out the head tube.
The 575 has long set the bar for all-mountain performance
and now it has even more flexibility. You can still build it up
light weight, but you can also build it to tackle ridiculous
terrain. It keeps getting better...
