Question:

The frame design The 601 is light-weight frame derived from the our 901 frame. By using an all new alloy, reducing certain tube diameters, updating from IS 2000 to Postmount and by changing from an 1.5” True Integration headset to a Tapered Full Integrated headset we were able to reduce an identical build by over 300g. The new long travel geometry provides both improved climbing and descending characteristics. Not only on fast DH trails but also on technical and steep trails the descending characteristics have been improved.

The rear travel can be chosen to be either 165mm or 190mm, depending on the stroke of the rear shock. Both 222mm and 241mm eye-to-eye shocks can be used. Depending on the chosen length of shock, a different shock mount can be used. Both are included in the frame purchase. The Shock mounts also allow fine tuning of the geometry, which can easily be performed on-trail in a matter of seconds by undoing just one bolt.

Tip: go for the long travel option right from the start! In terms of bob or acceleration the 190mm version is not far behind the 165mm version, but adds considerable reserves when it comes to descending characteristics.

The frame For maximum stiffness and durability every single tube is multiply butted and the overall frame construction consistently adheres to oversize principles. The head tube is, just like our Liteville 301 from MK8 onwards, a tapered head tube with fully integrated bearings, but in a slightly beefed up guise. The headset allows the use of all available 1 1/8th and tapered steerer tube forks. The required reduction shim is included.

If you are familiar with Liteville and our frames you will know: naturally, the seat stays and chain stays are also butted differently on the left and right of the 601 to accommodate for the different loads resulting from the chain pull and breaking forces. The bottom bracket area, in which we all know that bottom bracket, main pivot, front derailleur, rear tire, ISCG tab, chain guide (optional) and the rear gear cable have to all work in harmony with each other, yet are cramped in a confined space, was again especially important for us in order to use the available space effectively and yet provide sufficient clearance for the cranks while providing high rear frame stiffness and large tyre clearance. All this being reason for using the same frame components here as found on the 301.

Construction type:

Diamond frame in extreme-oversize design with 4-bar linkage and using multiply butted tubing. All 601 frames use our TCL (TunedChainstayLength) which means as the frame grows in length, so does the chainstay. Frame size XS uses super short 415mm chain stays for a 24” rear wheel. Like this, even smaller riders will be able to have the same enjoyable riding experience as every one else.

Sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL

Material:

Custom alloy grade using an extensive multiple step heat treatment process with Rockwell hardness and Eddy-Current (IACS) testing.

Surface:

Shot peened for best material strength and fatigue properties. Anodized with laser logo. Race black anodised, or raw works finish or about 160 RAL colors with 650 color variations. Or did you want it a little more individual? You can always color anodise or hand polish your frame.
