As of February 2010 we will be once again running our popular shop rides.
There will be a ride on the last Sunday of every month based around one of
three locations.
The first ride will be at Peaslake, Surrey, the second at
Bedgebury Forest in Kent and the third somewhere on the South Downs. We'll
then repeat in the same order. The rides are free, all we ask is you stick to
the rules and treat it as an ideal way to get out on your mountain bike and
meet like minded riders.
Keep an eye on our website for updates as we'll have full dates and directions
posted soon. Don't forget to keep the dates free!
Sunday 28th March 2010
Our second ride of the year will be the Eastbourne ride. We'll be
meeting/parking along the main road (B2103) outside St.Bedes school with the
riding starting at 10:00am. It's a classic 20 mile South Downs XC mountain
bike ride with big rewarding views and a few very big climbs. It will
still be a little muddy, so although technically an easy ride the going will
be slow, in places hard and it will need you to be fit and happy to ride up
long climbs in your granny ring. As always we will go as fast as the
slowest person and depending on time there will be a mid
ride pub or at least cafe stop for refueling. See below for more details
of the
ride
and the map of where it
is.
Where:
Holmbury Hill and Pitch Hill. This area offers fantastic technical
singletrack with both natural and man made trails. The rides can vary
from 12-35 miles and are ideal for intermediate and expert riders. If you can
handle roots, mud and varied terrain then you'll love this techy ride. If
you're new to the sport or a timid rider then it may not be for you. Click here for location
Bedgebury Forest. Bedgebury Pinetum has a purpose built 9 mile
singletrack
route ideally suited to beginner mountain bikers and a favourite with the
ladies. If you've only ridden a few
times or are new to the sport then this is an ideal starting point.
The route can be tailored to suit the needs of the group with options to ride
anywhere between 5 to 18 miles. Parking here does cost so don't forget £7.50
in coins. Click here for location
The South Downs. Recently upgraded to a national park the South Downs
offers
classic XC riding. The rides can vary
from 15-35 miles and are ideal for all abilities, as long as you don't mind
long climbs. In the Spring months or wet weather it's hard work, in the summer
it's a lot easier going and offers relaxing riding with great views. Click

When:
The rides will take place on the last Sunday of every month starting 28th Feb.
We will meet up in the car park shown on the street map links above.
How:
Simply make your way to the meeting point of the ride marked on the map
for the advertised start time and ride. If you don't spot your guides
(right) then make your way to the trail head but we'll make it easy to find
us. We will start bang on time so
arrive with enough time to unpack etc. as it's unfair on everyone else if we
have to wait around.
The Rules
There are only a few rules so please stick to
them. 1.You will need a mountain bike, not a hybrid, town bike or folder.
2.You will need a helmet. No helmet, no ride. 3.Be self sufficient, bring everything you may need as if you're riding
on you
own. 4.We will ride as fast as the slowest rider. If you're at the back
don't worry
as no one will leave you behind. 5.Rain. If it's raining hard then it's probably off. If not sure check
this page as we'll update it with the latest news.
If you have any questions just ring the shop on 020 84604852 and ask
for
Howard or Joe.

A short film of our first shop ride of the year. The rain and mud didn't stop
us from having quite an entertaining ride.
