What is Pertex®?

Pertex® fabric, made by Britain’s Perserverance Mills, is a brand of fabrics engineered for lightweight outdoor clothing. Pertex® fabrics were originally developed for insulated clothing and for lightweight windproof garments.

Pertex® fabrics use extremely fine synthetic yarns, tightly woven into a very fine fabric. Pertex® Endurance fabrics have a lightweight and highly breathablePU membrane laminated to the back of the fabric to prevent any water from penetrating the fabric.

Why are Pertex® fabrics better?

Pertex fabrics excel in protecting insulating garments. They are extremely lightweight but strong, due to the fine, high tenacity fibres used. The fine weave makes them windproof, and also keeps insulation fibres from escaping or poking through.

Perserverance Mills are one of the world leaders in this category of fabrics, and the quality of manufacture, fabric engineering and testing is extremely high. In addition, Perserverance also developed their own DWR treatment; which repels water, dirt, stains, and is more durable than other finishes.

Why use both Pertex® and Pertex® Endurance?

Pertex® Endurance is used at the front of our cycling jackets, where rain and mist are driven into the fabric, creating higer surface pressures. Under these conditions, Endurance keeps the water out much better than standard fabrics. At the back of the garment, the water repellent Pertex® fabric sheds water, while minimising weight and bulk.

Together the two fabrics optimise the performance, weight and size of the
